Los Angeles Free Music Society live at The Box
Los Angeles - 14 Jan 2012
Caught some of the performance at the opening of this exhibition of LAFMS history, part of the epic Pacific Standard Time series organized by the Getty together with many, many local museums, galleries, and venues. The show features period photos and flyers, sound sculptures, and vast tables full of instruments and/or sound-generating devices employed by LAFMS members over the years. The performance was a cacophony of vintage synths, tape loops, dual drum sets, horns, laptops, voices, and pretty much anything else that could bleet out some noise. At times formless and discordant, sometimes quite beautiful. I do like a good wall of sound.
There are two more performances in conjunction with the show: this Saturday, the 28th of January, and February 11, both 12-7pm.
